About me
My name is Frances and I am a lifelong gardener, having lived in various parts of the USA over many years. I am now gardening in USDA Zone 7a east Tennessee. From 2000 to 2014 I was gardening on a slope in a small town in Tennessee. I have been blogging about my gardens since December of 2007. Thank you for visiting!

A very inspriational post Frances. Your photos are well selected to complement your narrative.
Hi Lisa, thanks. I had the post ready no matter the outcome of the election. It fit for either way. ;->
Frances
Great post, Frances. Now is a good time to be reflective.
Jan
Always Growing
Hi Jan, thanks. I agree, we need a breather after such a long ordeal.
Frances
Very demonstrative. Lovely pics. The mirror is awesome. All in accordance with the new world.
Hi Lola, thanks so much. The mirror is still giving me surprises with its reflections.
Frances
I love the image of the stone face sat in the shallow pool, with the reflection of the tree and water surrounding her. Just beautiful.
Hi Zoe, hope you are doing well. Thanks for stopping by. The face in the birdbath is a favorite with the feathered friends and humans alike. Reflecting is always a good thing.
Frances
The mirror you worked on look great Frances. It certainly reflects your garden like a picture! I like the head in the water shot also, very unique!
Hi Dave, thanks for that. The mirror and birdbath always look good, no matter the season. The reflection changes too, so fun!
Frances
Perfect!
Cameron
Thanks!
I like your pictures..a nice reflect of fall ; )
Martin-Janne
Hi Martin-Janne, is that two names? Thanks for visiting and welcome!
Frances
Inspiring post Frances!
Hi Linda, thanks, glad you found it that.
Frances
Love it!
Hi Jean, thanks.
Frances
Dear Frances, A very creative, clever, exceptional and inspiring post…so appropos of the new school of garden design (Semi-Piet) that you are bringing to Fairegarden.
Have a great day! Wonderful photos…Reference Points is stellar! Gail
Hi Gail, good morning to you. Thanks for the kind words. The datura seed head was most accomadating, almost lewdly so! ;-> Hope you get to work outside today before the cold snap comes on Friday.
Frances
That mirror is SO awesome yes. It is time for reflection-and getting in the garden.
Hi Tina, thanks. The mirror is turning out to be well worth the effort. I had planned on making that for YEARS, so glad I didn’t just toss it. Yes, time to garden before the next cold front comes through. We are super dry once again, watering needs to be done. There won’t be enough rain to help much.
Frances
Cool post. Love the fresh thinking that’s what I’m trying to do!
Hi Darla, thanks so much and welcome. Fresh thinking is good for us all, at any age! ;->
Frances
What a lovely and timely post. Very well photographed and very well said. Thanks for making my morning!
Hi Kim, thanks so much for that. I love being a part of your morning! Now could you send us some rain please? ;->
Frances
Beautiful, Frances! How apropos of both the time change and the election. We are indeed seeing the dawning of a new day!
Hi OFB, how nice to see you and thanks. It does feel new already, the sky is so clear and the colors are brilliant.
Frances
Oh Francis, PHENOMENAL photos! Breath taking…reflective…
Brenda
HI Brenda, thanks so much. Now if only I could figure out how some of the photos come out so well and most others are blurry, it sure would save me a lot of photo deleting! ;->
Frances
I adore the simple clean images and well chosen words. I could lose myself in the green glass, evergreen and stone.
Hi Barbara thanks and feel free to get lost in there. You didn’t ask but I will mention that the evergreen is Calluna vulgaris ‘Multicolor’.
Frances
Ohh Frances… You are so good with the camera!
What a great thing with the mirror!
Linda
Hi Linda thanks so much. I never noticed you could see the shed before from the mirror. It is so fun to stand different places with the camera.
Frances
Your photos and words were food for thought today. This post was perfectly timed for the changes we will experience in the days ahead.
Hi Racquel, thanks. I wanted to do something simple but reflective. Mirrors fit the bill!
Frances
A really fun post today Frances! Makes going to the dentist not such a bad day after all…. lol…
Hi Skeeter, thanks. So sorry you have to go to the dentist. Think pleasant thoughts and go to your happy place!
Frances
Beautiful post Frances and very timely. Here’s to a new day ahead and one for the better.
Hi Phillip, thanks so much. Hear hear!
Frances
Your photographs are so beautiful, and appropriate to this celebratory yet solemn day.
Hi Pat, thanks. That is exactly the tone I was trying to set.
Frances
Frances .. beautiful pictures ! .. I think all the rest of the world breathed a sigh of relief and hope for you guys .. I think this is going to be a remarkable time for the United States and all of her people.
Well done !
Hi Joy, thanks so much. It was interesting and gratifying that the rest of the world has taken such an interest in our election. We are pretty much one world anymore.
Frances
I love the mirror pic! You are so creative! Great Post! love semi
Hello dear Semi, thanks for that. So glad you liked it.
Love, Frances
OHHH..fantastic photos! My fav is the stone face with the mirror image…though the mirror phots is fantastic. As always…your post is wonderful.
Hi Rhonda, thanks so much. The head sculpture in the birdbath has been a big hit. Lucky with the trees showing up so well in the reflection. Your kind words mean a lot to me.
Frances
Pass the margarita please and I will then go to my happy place… tee hee…
Hi Skeeter, you must have had a good visit at the dentist’s, you seem to be in a good mood. ;->
Frances
Spoken in the words of a true gardener. Loved it!
Shirley
Hi Shirley, thanks so much, a high compliment coming from such a wordsmith as yourself!
Frances
Reflections of mood, light, intrigue, beauty and the garden reflects the gardener. Fascinating depth to your photo compositions Faire Garden.
Hi Shauna, thanks so much. I do wish I could take credit for the depth in some of the shots, but the camera seems to make that decision on its own, if only I knew the secret!
Frances
A very inspirational post with only a few words, but the photos tell everything you need to know.
I still love that mirror that showcases your garden. Gorgeous!
Hi DP, thanks so much. Sometimes fewer words are better than more. ;-> The mirror has been a delightful addition to the garden. Its placement is working too. Now I need another one!
Frances
Beautiful post, Frances! Perfect for the morning after Election Day.
Hi Rose, thanks so much. Glad you liked it in its simplicity.
