  1. Sylvia (England) says:

Frances, well done you deserve every award. The photos above really show why you have best photography but I like the way you use your photos to illustrate your words.

Oh! I really want some Muhly, no one sells it over here, yet! Do you think it needs a warmer summer than we get?

    Best wishes Sylvia (England)

Thanks Sylvia, for everything! Your award is so well deserved too. I thought Stuart was being quite funny about your big win. HA The muhly does like the heat, but I don’t know why it is not available there. It is rarely seen here also, a mystery to me. Maybe if people ask for it the nurseries will get some. πŸ™‚

  2. Darla says:

That is wonderfully sweet, Darla, thanks so much. πŸ™‚

  12. Rose says:

Congratulations, Frances–you are well-deserving of every one of these awards! Your photography is stunning, and your garden is on my list of “must-see” gardens. But it is the story you tell with each post that always brings me back. Thanks for enlightening us with your gardening knowledge, and for making me smile every time I come here.

By the way, I wanted to mention before Saturday that if you are watching the PSU game on TV with your family, to look for me on television. We’ll be sitting on the west side of the stadium at the beginning of the horseshoe. I’ll be the one in the orange shirt:)

Thanks Rose, your support and friendship means a lot to me. If you ever come down to TN, my door is open!! I will look for the pretty blonde with the orange shirt in the stands at the Penn State game. Have a big funny sign and the camera will find you! πŸ™‚

  22. Only first-place finishes count?

Hi Mr. Sub, of course every nomination counts, but somehow a couple of mine got erased at the end. We’ll leave that up to Stuart to decide if they are worthy mentioning. And congrats on taking Iowa! πŸ™‚

  23. Alice Joyce says:

  40. Joanne says:

Frances very well deserved and thank you for all the pleasure of seeing your pictures and reading your blog.

Thank you Joanne. I appreciate you and your own delightful and educational blog. πŸ™‚

  41. VP says:

Well, I’ve arrived rather late at the party having been away and I see everyone’s already said everything there is to say.

So I’ll just keep it simple – congratulations and well done πŸ˜€

Thanks VP, simple is always good. πŸ™‚

  42. Barbarapc says:

Congratulations – I enjoy your posts (and so does Mum – she’ll phone to tell me about a post) – but even more than the pictures and words, you truly embody the spirit of what a great gardening blog & blogger is. Don’t spend all your winnings at one nursery! p.s. Saw my first Muhly in the flesh last week – none were as pretty as yours – can’t get your photos out of my head.

Thanks Barbara and Barbara’s Mum! I love hearing that she likes to visit too. Good deal on seeing the muhly, the photos don’t really convey its true beauty in person. Remember that my big display is over fifty plants. Hard to match those kinds of numbers. πŸ™‚

  43. Frances, Congratulations! You have so many No. 1s, do you need help to carry all these trophys? Your post today has been inundated with so many congratulatory messages, it just shows that you are truly the QUEEN of Blotanical. Keep up the good work, Cheers!

Thanks so much Autumn Belle, those trophies are heavy and yes I do need help! Congrats to you for a good showing in a very short time too. πŸ™‚

  44. Robin says:

Congratulations, Frances! Well deserved! Your pictures on this post are fabulous!

Thanks Robin, I appreciate those kind words coming from such a grand photographer as you, and you deserve a giant hug for winning Indiana! Quite a lot of competition in that state. πŸ™‚

  45. Patsi says:

    Hoo Hoo Frances !!!

Thanks for the shout out, Patsi, much appreciated! πŸ™‚

  46. Congratulations, Frances! (I surely wish I could grow that Pink Muhly Grass!!) Your blog covers many diverse subjects that are all related to gardening… plus your wonderful photos are a treat. It’s always fun to visit – keep it up. πŸ™‚

Thanks dear Shady, for those sweet words. I wish everyone could grow the muhly grass, but believe that everyone CAN grow some type of beautiful ornamental grass that when planted in a bunch of fifty plants or more would look absolutely fabulous. Deschampsia is shade tolerant, hint hint. πŸ™‚

  47. Lola says:

Congratulations, Frances. Loved all your pics & the sharing of your garden.

Thanks Lola, you are a sweetheart! πŸ™‚

  48. Teresa says:

Kudos to you Frances! Nice job. You certainly deserve it. Your blog gives us all something to aspire to. Thanks for all the time you take to make it so good!

Thanks Teresa. I do appreciate you! πŸ™‚

  50. Catherine says:

Congratulations! I really enjoy your writing style, you’re so creative! I still think about the post you did with your tall plants as the basketball team. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from you.

Thanks so much, Catherine. That was one of my favorite posts. There are so many fine blogs out there, including your own that I learn things from every single post. πŸ™‚

  51. Live from a small town in southeast Tennessee, the reigning queen of garden blogging, Ms Frances G. of Faire Garden. Congratulations on your five wins, a veritable sweep of awards and well deserved kudos. Good job.

You are so sweet, Christopher, thanks! I am looking forward to seeing the cozy cabin, Spot family, Autumn in the mountains, and you or course. πŸ™‚

  52. Kathleen says:

Wow, that’s quite a haul Frances. Congratulations. I have no idea how to nominate, vote, etc. I guess I need to spend some time figuring out Blotanical, huh?!

Thanks Kathleen. The best way to keep up at Blotanical is to visit often and always read the news stories that Stuart puts up. There is a lot going on over there and so many wonderful blogs, more every day! πŸ™‚

  53. Victoria says:

Many many many congratulations, Frances, on all your awards. They are so well deserved – I love coming here and visiting.

Thanks so much Victoria. And a big congrats to you for the Best UK Blog win! πŸ™‚

  54. linda says:

    Warmest Congratulations Cousin! Hugs, Linda

Thanks and hugs to you too, Linda, for winning the very competitive state of Illinois! πŸ™‚

  55. Frances – congratulations!

Of course, I have no idea what’s been going on with Blotanical since I’ve been so preoccupied with family as well as Charm’s health problems lately. I just tried to login and cannot find the info that so many of you are writing about!

Your blog is top notch and the awards are well-deserved… so here’s my “unofficial” vote since I missed the whole thing!

Thanks Cameron. I do hope Charm is recovering well, we hold her in our thoughts with love. The awards can be found on the home page at Blotanical, the blog directory tab. There is a header with 2009 Blotanical Awards and underneath…and the winners on that to see the whole thing. πŸ™‚

  56. Congratulations Frances – absolutely deserved.

Thanks so much, Happy. Of course nothing to compare with Most Irrelevant! πŸ™‚

  57. carolyngail says:

I appreciate you, Carolyn Gail, thanks. πŸ™‚

  58. My dear Frances, though I’m late in sending my congratulations, please know they are heartfelt and I’m so glad to see you win these awards. You’re SO deserving and you had my votes. You continue to amaze me with your endless supply of beautiful photography and informative posts. I want to be like you when I grow up. *hugs*

Thanks Kylee, I appreciate your support, but don’t feel like a grown up quite yet myself. A big congrats and hug to you as well. πŸ™‚

  59. ryan says:

    Well deserved.

    Thanks Ryan. πŸ™‚

  60. Congratulations on all your awards! Well deserved, indeed!! I love coming to your blog and tremendously enjoy your spectacular photos.

Thanks for those kind words, Linda. πŸ™‚

  61. Sue says:

Hi Frances! Now that I finally got my thank you posted, I am ready to visit all the other winners. Your blog truly is unique, oh, hey, there should be an award for that, too! Anyway, your writing, photos and the comments you leave for others are awesome. Congratulations on your awards!

Thanks Sue, those are very sweet words. Congrats on your awards too. πŸ™‚
